Well I built a Harbor Freight trailer and installed a Unigo hitch. Haven't had it on the road yet but should this weekend. I did a test fit last night and everything looks good. There's enough room to mount a cooler rack on the tongue.
Our plan to take it to Fingerlakes STOC and then head down to Skyline drive for the following week. All of this is a test run to see if we're up to heading cross country in a couple of years.

Nice rig ... What did you use for a tongue stand?

Thanks for the comments.
The tongue stand is just a Wally World bicycle kickstand. I did narrow the trailer by 4" and moved the tongue forward one set of holes. I also removed one leaf spring. The cargo carrier was hinged at the front and did not open very far. Removed the pivot hinges and installed a piano hinge on the side and moved the original spring hinges to hold it open.
As it sits it weighs 172lbs with 17lbs of tongue weight. I plan on mounting a cooler rack on the tongue but will need to watch what that does to tongue weight has the rest of the gear that will go inside the carrier isn't very heavy.

I have the UNI-GO hitch and its great and sturdy on the three longer trips I have had .
I also have the Unigo Trailer and I like having the extra camping gear .
Of course with my kiddo along there will never be enough room

Once again, ladies and gentlemen....a fine example of motorcycle porn.

Nice looking rig. A buddy of mine uses the bike hitch for a tongue stand. I'm too cheap, I use an old milk crate I carry stuff in the cargo box (I put some wine in it for the trip, lol).

Looks good!

I have a friend who built one and rode in to our group's meet in Eureka Springs towing it behind a Dyna, two up. It held up great except for the top of the luggage box. It started seeping on him for some reason????

You should not have any problems with the cooler. You might have to move your heavy items to the back of the trailer to get the desired tongue weight . My cooler is 14''tall 18''L 10'' W.. It did not have a drain plug. I took the plug out of a old cooler and put in the new one. It is nice to be able to open the drain plug and when the ice melts it drains out of the cooler. Its get rids of the sloshing effects the water can cause going down the road. Just my 2 cents

Beautiful set up. That tongue length is excellent. It must pull like a dream back there.

Nicely done.

Thanks for all the comments. I've put over 1000mi on the trailer so far and hope to do one more trip this year. We've camped 13 nights so far.
The trailer pulls great. I replaced the stock rear shock spring with a Hyperpro. There is no way you can pull a trailer 2-up on a ST1300 with the stock spring safely. Even with the Hyperpro the front end felt to light for my liking with a packed cooler on the rack. So I picked up a couple of dry bags and put the cooler inside the topper and put the sleeping bags and some other lighter stuff in the bags on the rack.
I have also changed the topper. The one in the pic looks great but is definitely height challenged. It made packing difficult at best. My neighbor and one of the more square shaped ones that they gave me. Works much better. It's actually 2cuft smaller but more usable.
