Looking for a good place to go bike/tent camping around South Cumberland Recreation Area ( Stone Door Trails) in Altamont Tn. Any suggestions?

Bach I'm not familiar with that area but I'm sure someone here is.

Bach, welcome to the site! Sorry, but I don't know anything about the area other than remembering the exit sign for Altamont while heading south.

Sorry, I can't help either. I've been through there several times... beautiful riding. I was just always passing thru...

I've done some riding in parts of Tenn. but closer to the Smokie Mtns. and from what I can see on Google Maps is a couple of state parks to look into for camping possibilities. One is South Cumberland State Park and the other is Falls Creek State Park. I would think that around the various lakes and rivers near by you will find all kinds of private campgrounds to take advantage of too. Looks like a nice place to explore.

If you haven't been to Fall Creek Falls you're missing out. I consider it to be the best TSP there is. There's some decent riding around there too.

Thank Guys for all your info. I ended up going to Stone Door State Park . P^
Interesting rocks, I'm serious, I like rocks and my daughter is a geologist, so I have always loved rocky places.
Looks like a nice place to hike.

Great pics! The stairs remind me of the ones at Pilot Rock.
