I spent Monday and Tuesday beating myself up in the Anza Borrego Desert. I wrote it up on the st-owners board and hopefully this link works.
Getting dirty in Anza Borrego Desert
Well it didn't work. So I get the words to transfer, but not the pictures. Help!!!

Well, it has been an eye opener for this old timer. I am very out of shape for desert riding. My legs are very sore from standing on the pegs for miles at a time. I got quite a bit more confidence than yesterday and didn't fall down. I have to start doing some weight traing before the TAT in September. I also have to get some tires that are a bit more aggressive in sand.

Man that looks like fun! Was the DRZ tired?

Thanks Rick. Yeah the DRZ got tired about four times. Three of the four I was at a stop and the leg on the side of the lean was not long enough to hold the bike up. I will be working my big muscle groups between now and the TAT to keep that from happening as often.

We're not dirt bike riders ourselves, but at least you're trying.:) We have a lot of respect for people who can ride and make it look easy riding in dirt and mud. Takes a lot of good riding skills to do that. We ride the pave and always wanted to try the dirt. Keep it up.P^

You two have the ideal dirt bikes!!! It's hard to drop one of those side car rigs. But it is harder to pick a line for the bike and side car in some terrain. I have that problem when riding gravel with the Wing and trailer.

You know, I think of all the times I rode in dirt when I was in my teens and early 20's, and I can remember very few times of dropping my bike. And my bike was a Triumph TR6C. Heavy dude compared to the DR. But I was able to muscle it back upright when it started to fall, but not now, gotta be the old age stuff. Of the out of shape old stuff!!!

A bike in it's natural state. It's not really natural for a 2 wheeled vehicle to stay on it's 2 wheels, if it was you wouldn't need a side stand.

Great pics Mac,

Guy

Old age and out of shape sounds like me! In the 80's I rode a Honda CR250R. Now I probably couldn't even get on one and start it without falling over! :p

I thought my bike was tall until I got my seat back. I think it grew another inch:eek: Do they make platform riding boots? I think I saw Gene Simmons wearing some one time.P^
