I know the Coleman, MSR and Snowpeak are the same and all these can be removed. I think all the threaded cans are the same but not sure.

Gaz brand Butane is it's own and only it's own.

I think the propane threads are standardized. Now you know everything I do and then some:)

thanx , my old stove is gaz , and canisters are not to be found around here , im done with white gas stoves as i dont like the pumping , and danger [ i wont tell you about lighting my tent on fire after tipping my canoe in a glacier fed lake and trying to light one while shakeing with hypothermia ] we have three mountainering type stores in town that sell light weight stoves , but they dont have the canisters , the hardwear store has the canisters and sells a good looking stove thats in a case and very small . now i know they will remove when not empty i will get one .

I have one of the old style Gaz stoves, circa 1979 and it still works fine. I was on ebay a while back and someone was selling 6 of the old style fuel cans.

I also have one of Colemans newer canister stoves.

I like the idea of being able to remove the fuel can from the newer Coleman and it makes packing it easier than the old Gaz stove.

The only reason I keep the Gaz is because after all these years it still works and its been with my on motocamping trips for the past 30 years...

I usually mail order my gaz canisters because I can get the larger 520 gram ones and they last a good long time...

We were coming back from Canada one year and were Glacier NP.. Stopped for breakfast and there was a store next door.. they had a ton of the gaz canisters .. they were the small ones but I was just surprised to see them and I think that's all they had.
