What are the reasons we go our own way and motorcycle camp?

Well ... for one, it's lots cheaper than hauling a camper trailer behind a pick-up truck. P^

I have always enjoyed riding my bike somewhere new and seeing new places and enjoyed camping so the two just seem to go together for me.

From age 10 I have never been without a motorcycle, and I truly love to ride motorcycles. I enjoy nature and traveling so it all seems to fall together. I have to admit that I have had some pretty sad gear in the past, but it makes me appreciate what I have now. P^ Luckily I have a few good friends who enjoy motocamping and we have a good time. Then again, on the other hand I have friends that I give a hard time about hauling their Electra Glides and Gold Wings to Daytona! All in good fun of course, but I just don't understand why they wouldn't want to ride those nice bikes when they travel! They would never dream of camping. They don't know what they are missing, do they?

I have ridden motorcycles for many years, currently on my 5th Wing. Mostly long days and high mileage. My goal at the end of the day was a shower and a comfortable bed.
In the past year (since becoming aware of motocampers.com) I have come to change my perspective. Now the end of the day is a continuation of the total experience, not a disconnected activity. If that makes sense.

During the time I was growing up, camping, fishing and hunting was a family affair. Spent time at the lake just lounging around and enjoying the peace and quiet.

As time went on I drifted away from camping because of school, work, more work. Once married and sort of settled down, children came along, so We purchased a tent trailer and did some camping and travelling with the children from the time they were infants. Those stories and adventures, some trips should be left buried and others are a story on their own.

Starting riding in 2000 and once proficient enough, decided to do some travelling. Now have added the camping to the adventure.

To me motorcycling gets one in touch with nature. The smell of clean air, the smell of trees. Just the aroma of the open space, of course. can't fail to mention the heavenly aroma of pepe-le pue, which opens the sinuses. One is just more aware of his surroundings and do not take things for granted.

Motorcyclists are a very friendly bunch of people and I have noticed over the years that campers are of the same breed, down to earth and friendly.

I too grew up where camping and the outdoors was a big part of family life. I continued the tradition with our children and camped in travel trailers and 5th wheels until the kids grew up and moved away. I started motorcycling again after a 30 year layoff and soon discovered the joys of motorcycle camping.
For me it's a step back in time as well as the fun and adventure of going new places and meeting nice people.
