I ordered this chair from REI to use up my membership discount. It's easy to unfold and fold up. It is very comfortable as far as folding chairs go. The only negative things are the folded size and it is a little heavy (9 lbs.). The legs telescope down to make it pack smaller. Here are a few pictures of it setting next to the chairs in the kitchen to give you an idea of the size. Basically it's the steel version of the Pico chair.

Steve,
It looks like a Pico clone to me, the locking area on the legs are a bit differant. I really like my Pico, it is a bit bulky and weighs 9 lbs but my bike doesnt mind carrying it and its very comfortable. I also take along a GCI top shelf table.

After a long day or riding you will be happy to have a comfortable chair to relax in.

Steve,
I bet it will be fine and comfy too. You will be glad you got it on your haul to Alaska.

Nice !!
Subtle differences, but 1/2 the price!
Xpress Lounger folded size = 17.5 x 16.4 x 2.4 inches
Pico folded size = 20 x 12 x 3.75 inches

I've got a Pico chair and really like it. Found the X-press folding chair here for a little more money than Steve paid but free shipping to my house (have the President's Club card and got it for the lower price). Will have to wait until it's delivered later this week to compare it to the Pico.

Ed W. if it's a lot worse than the Pico please don't tell me! :p
I'm just kidding, I would like to know how it stacks up against the Pico.

....I would like to know how it stacks up against the Pico.
I expect it be just as comfortable as the PICO...... it will just pack larger.

Got the chair and used it on a camp-out over Easter weekend. Same comfort as my PICO. PICO is aluminum tubing w/ strong plastic resin joint bracing whereas the Xpress is bent steel/metal tubing. With proper care, the Xpress should meet a camper's needs and save a few bucks.
Tried to attach some pics of the 2 chairs next to each other for a visual comparison but unable to do so - got a rejection that "site key was not available" or something like that.

I was in Hudson, WI this morning. In the course of my travels, I stopped by the local Home Depot to use the john and refill the Camelback. Up near the front of the store, they always have a marked down section that I can't pass by. Imagine my surprise to find GCI Xpress chairs. They had four of them up there for $29.99 each. I hesitated buying any, as I already had two propellors for my pontoon tied to the Goldwing. $29.99 was too good to pass by. I found room for two of them.;)
I'll take a couple photos of one of them next to my Pico and my Coleman Clone tomorrow.
Right now I have to teach my son to change a tire with a C-clamp and a couple spoons. He went to motorcycle mechanics school and got to use a $6000 air over hydraulic unit, but they didn't teach him how to do it in the real world.

Here are the promised pictures. The first one shows the three chairs lined up and collapsed. The one I call a Coleman Clone is actually made by a company called Natural Gear and sells at the local Farm store for $49. It weighs just over 12 pounds and is rated for 350 pounds. Next in line is the GCI Xpress. 9 pounds and $67 at Gander Mountain, but can be found on sale for much less. Finally, the GCI Pico. Also 9 pounds but around $100 at most better camping stores. Both GCI chairs are rated at 250 pounds capacity.
The biggest difference I see, comfort wise is that the Xpress seat is smaller by about 2 inches front to back and almost 2 inches narrower, but the arm rests on it are 4 inches shorter. The Pico and NG both have seats measuring about 14 front to back and 21 wide.
My wife and I agree that the Pico is the most comfortable. The NG is similar, but the backrest lays back at an odd angle and you get a backache after a while. I find myself always leaning forward in the seat and not using the back at all. The Xpress isn't bad, but the arms need to extend out further to be really comfortable.
The NG has been relegated to sitting in front of the stove in the garage. It folds nicely and hangs on the wall if it's in the way. The Pico is still my favorite, though the Xpress also fits on the luggage rack. The Xpress's will go in the camper, but the Pico will be my traveling chair.
I wanted to add photos of the Kermit, but the three people near me who have(had) t h em, have all replaced them over the winter with something different.
Maybe I can get some shots at the SKUNKs in the Woods Rally this weekend.
