I just got back from a two day ride with some buddies of mine in BC. I left Kirkland WA on Thursday morning and met up with them in Bellingham. We crossed the border at Sumas, WA and traveled up to Hope BC. This is where they filmed First Blood, and they're quite proud of that fact. In fact they have walking tours of locations used in the movie. After eating a DQ burger we continued up to Lytton, BC on Canada Hwy 1. The views of snow capped mountains in the distance were perfect without a cloud in the sky. From Lytton up to Lillooet on Hwy 12 the road got tighter and twistier. We got stopped due to a rock slide across the roadway about half way up. Then, after they let us through the slide was still going on and we enjoyed the sound of pebbles hitting our helmets. Kinda scary considering the size of the boulders they just moved off the road. We stayed in Lillooet because we lost the light. The area was a bit sketchy with a few vagrants eyeing the bikes. We questioned the innkeeper about this and he insisted we keep the bikes inside the beer cooler. He said they always do that with bikes. The next day we slipped and slid down Hwy 99 to Whistler. The temperature was hovering just below freezing and the road was covered in a winters worth of ice, snow, gravel, and dirt. Each time a trucked passed we got lost in the dust cloud! Making it to the Whistler area we were greeted with tons of skiers and snowboarders looking at us as if we were nuts for being on motorcycles. On to Vancouver the highway was under construction. Regardless, it was beautiful. We went through the city and down to the border crossing. Chinatown was worth riding through.
It was a great trip so check out the pictures (http://www.motocampers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=33).

i know the area very well , the duffy lake road , there are no vagrants in lilloet , what you probibly saw was just the local indians that get a little bored and tend to resemble vagrants as they dont need jobs . probibly my favorate camp site is there , run by b.c. hydro it is a very nice free campgrounds . in summer the climate is the hotest place in canada [they hold the record] and being that it is desert there is no dew on the tent in the morning , quite often i have camped there and not even set up the tent as the nights are warm . in late summer the bridge river turns red with sockeye salmon . if you have a bike that will tolerate gravel roads ,there are routes that require crossing the fraser river by two car cable retension ferrys that are quite a thrill

On further review, I think the snow I saw this weekend was way more hospitable. The temp on Ray's 'wing showed 60º. Laguna Mountain in SoCal, my buddy (pictured) and I went for a ride yesterday. Alas, no camping, but did scout some National Forest that needs to be used when it warms a little more.

the picture is of where the creek exits duffy lake , the decent from the lake is very long and steep , the mechanics in the towns of lillooet and at the other end pemberton make a good liveing replaceing brakes on tourist vehicles . on a motor bike in summer you have too pass cars on tight corners too avoid being overcome with the fumes of burning brake pads , i even saw flames a few times . logging trucks in the area have water tanks that pour water on brakes too cool them on the hills

I was getting pretty good at braking just to the point of the ABS kicking in. Great stuff! There are quite a few truck run-off areas on the way down.
