We will be there!:D:tent1:

That park is very popular. Do you think we can get in without a reservation???

I was thinking about making me a reservation for a spot with electricity.

I just went ahead and booked us a site with electricity since my wife now refuses to sleep with me unless I have my cpap.
We will be in site 34 in area B which is right around the corner from area A.

I was looking at all the activities there and I'm sure Beeper is gonna want to do some walking and exploring also.

We are gonna stay until Monday since I'm off till Wednesday.

I'll probably be there, she doesn't know if she will be or not, 'cause she's cooking for 12 people and can't think about it now. Since that is the weekend after Moonshine, she'll probably still be with me, so we'll make it a stop on the way back to CA.

I'm writing this on my calendar. This just very well could be my first long (400 miles) trip on my KLR. I may even try to follow Rick 'the wildman' on the DS ride, at least for the first mile or two.

My name is Shawn I live in Telephone Tx. I work as a cnc machinist by trade. I picked up my Honda 230L last April as a bike to ride with my kids and to commute on. this was my first bike in 12 years and my first dirt bike so I started small. My commute is 50miles one way so that led me to the purchase of my VLX 600 a couple of weeks ago. I heard of this forum from Trailace on the TWT forum and I am hooked on the Idea of strapping a tent on my bike and taking off. I have been camping in a travel trailer with the family for a long time. We all love to camp as long as we go in the trailer. Me on the other hand I am good with a tent. I am not sure if this was a good place to put my intro or not ,cause I have not had much time to dig thru the whole site.So anyway this is me

unless something drastic happens between now and then I will be there. I still havent decided what to ride. I will have to hual the ds bike up there. It would be nice to have my truck there with all of my crap and a cooler and maybe some fire wood. Then again I am wanting to do a road trip on the 600. Afterall isnt that what this is all about. camping from a motorcycle? I know the dualsport would be awsome up there and there is nothing better than riding backwood trails and roads. and the waterfall you posted a pic of ,I really want to see. I think it will come down to the day I leave.:dizzy1:

Man, I really wish I could make this. It is not a bad ride from my house. About 6 hours or so. And it is really nice going through South East Oklahoma for a Talimena Run (http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2485/). But we have a Bike Night we are sponsoring here in town and it is already on the calendar.

Devil's Den is a fantastic park. There is some great primitive (and safe) caving to be had there as well.

Hopefully y'all will do this again later in the year.

For those doing the paved ride.... Saturday's lunch will be at Jo Jo's Catfish Warf (http://www.jacksresort.com/jojo%27s.htm)near Mountain View, AR. It's about 200 miles from Devil's Den on twisty roads so we should get an early start - 8am?

For the Dual sport riders on Friday we will be heading north to Fayetteville for lunch and then back to camp. These are unproven route so who know what we will come across but if all goes well is should be 150 miles 80% dirt.

For Saturday we will head south and then west to Oark Café for lunch. This is about 165 miles with about 70% dirt. We will per-ride the routes on Wednesday and Thursday and edit them if needed.

I'll be eating breakfast in Mansfield, OH on Saturday! Not sure why except that it's a RTE in my home state. May explore Mohican state park afterwards though. P^

Hi guys

I'm Ron and I'm new to this site. I live in Denton Tx and found ya'll while looking for a ride this weekend. I ride a Honda xr600 that is street legal. DS ride sounds like fun! I'm planning on riding fri and sat if ya'll have room for me in your group. I'm on a wait list for a site to bring my motorhome, so as it stands I plan on packing a tent on my bike and riding it up there. Only 325 miles - but thats a good day on a dirtbike.

Anyone have a site to share???

Look foward to meeting Ya'll. Ron

Sorry for double posting here. I won't be making it to the HBRU after all. Some things came up at home that simply have to be taken care of so I am forfiet my site.

Here's the deal, The reservation deposit was non-refundable, so whoever wants it, get Friday night on me! That's right, you don't pay on Friday night. See my post here: http://www.motocampers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19691&postcount=60

Don't let this go to waste!

Well I had planned on bringing my camper up but like most I didn't make a reservation until it was too late. I may run up tomorrow if I have time after work and look around, it seems like there are some spots just off the road that hunters use during season that are just a few miles past the horse camp. If so I will be there on Thursday evening, if not I will see you Saturday morning.

Does anyone want this site? If not, I'm going to cancel the reservation and bite the $30 bucks. Last chance at the opportunity! Poopyone sent me a PM, but I haven't heard back.

Reservation is for Friday and Saturday night. I'll foot the bill for riday, you pay for Saturday. I hate seeing $30 go to waste and would rather pass it along to one of you guys.

C'mon now, I know there someone......

I'm out the door, to Devil's Den. Wind gusts, but mainly out of the south so it shouldn't be too bad.

Well, Beeper and I are not gonna make it. A bad case of jet lag and we couldn't get everything together yesterday to leave.
I'm gonna cancel my reservation so if anyone wants it they can have it.

Ya'll have fun.

Hope you guys are all having a good time there, seems like you sure picked the dates well, first really good riding/camping weather for a whole weekend of the year, here. Wish I could be there.....but the "future family" thing is keeping me close to home, for now.

Hope things are going well for your family, to, Joe!

I had a great time this weekend, weather was very good. Got home about 4:30 today, was a little tired of fighting the headwind on the way home. I was rounding a curve near the start of Talimena and 271 in Oklahoma at a moderate lean and out from the woods come a Chihuahua that almost ran in front of my tire. That was a little strange because I did not see any people or campers around at all. Must of been one of those wild ones we all here about in the woods, another thing you have to watch out for when you are camping. Othwise a nice ride home, sans the wind.

Had a great time camping and riding. Sandman and JbH did a great job in panning and leading our group. I look foward to another event. I made it home ok on Sunday, except for a slow dance with a couch that blew out of a truck that I was meeting. Once again thanks to all that made the event possible.

Wasn't able to make Joe's rides but we found a few fun roads anyway. Including a couple of miles of gravel to test my ST's dual sport capability.

Campgrounds were great and meeting up with you guys made it the best.

See ya' next time!
