IronheadZiggy brought up the SLIME issue back in May '08.
There didn't seem to be any conclusive opinions on it back then.
Has anyone had any experience with it on TUBED tires since then?
We will start out on the BIG TRIP with new tires, spares unmounted, extra tubes, patch kits, and pump...but just wondering if the slime would add an extra measure of "insurance" in any way.

I have been reading on one of the V-Strom boards that several people like this product, and it works with tube type tires also. Supposed to seal 1/8" holes in tubed tires, and 1/4" in tubeless tires. Have a look.

I have used Slime, I have used Ride On, I am currently riding 'naked' tires. I think it "might" help in some circumstances. Obviously, I don't think THAT highly of it, I don't have it in either bike right now...I do carry 'gummy worms' and a small compressor to patch flats on a tubeless, and a patch kit and irons on the tubed tires...

My experience with the various "slimes" is that they will slow a leak, but not stop it. Carry some tubes, irons and a pump. If you notice the tire looks low you can add air with the pump and might make it to a campground or other place better to tear down the tire instead of just by the road in the middle of nowhere. I've done both.

Thanks, Guy. When we bought our Urals they came with one of Russia's finest modern air compressors....a bicycle hand pump.:p We will carry extra tubes and patch kits.

I still have the same slime I took to Alaska in 2004. Had no need for it yet hope it stays that way. ;)

I've used this stuff for several years and know quite a few others who have as well.
I can't say conclusively it has sealed any holes, but I can say that when I do use it, my tires lose air significantly slower.
Some claim it helps smooth out the ride - I am not sure I buy into that though.
One interesting thing, for those that live in cold climates, is that when I leave work in the evening and it has been really cold, it takes this stuff a bit to spread out inside the tire - for a few blocks it is like having tires with flat side. First time was pretty scary, after that it was funny ...
