Looking to make FL from the Amtrak train arriving in Sanford FL. Would do this at the end of Feb or beg of March. I would like to do the keys and bike week. I have a open schedual. Any ideas of what I could hit and where I could stay? Looking to camp and motel it once in a while. I would like to do the bike week stop also as friends have told me to do it atleast once in me life. This is part of my bucket list you could say. Thank you, Mr. Matt (Mountain Top PA):tent4:

Matt welcome to the site!

Mellow and myself road down to Key West in 2007 because it was on the list of places we need to go. Just remember it is a long way down there and there is only one road in and out so make sure you have lots of time. Also traffic seems to be a lot lighter early in the morning. We tried to see the sunrise but we were a little late. :(

Matt,

I have a place in New Smyrna Beach just south of Daytona, you should have a great ride. Just be careful you don't wait too long to get a place for the night. Most of the "bike week only camping areas" are packed full. Going closer to Key West places to stay thin out. You should have a great time. Do as much A1A as you can. Central Florida has some nice roads in and around the Ocala National Forrest. Good Luck

Welcome MrMatt! Your friends are right you have to do Bike Week at least once! There are so many things to do a week just barely covers it. Head out to the Speedway and do some demo rides, and check out the racing and all the vendors. We stay at the Emerald Shores which is just a little out of town, south of Main Street.

The prices aren't too bad considering everyone shoots their prices through the roof during Speed Weeks, Bike Week, and Biketoberfest. You can also camp in the infield at the Speedway the last time I checked. For $30.00 you can take a couple of laps of the track on your bike and really see just how steep the banks are as you are riding along. It's amazing watching the roadracers fly around the tracks at speed. Shoot me a PM for more details if you want them! ;)

Welcome ayzpilot! Can we all come visit you in March? :p

Matt...........Welcome to the insanity. If you shoot me a PM, I'll give you all the info you need. Being from Florida and having attended bike week the past 18 years, I can fill you in. If you are planning on camping in Daytona, try the Holiday Travel Park. It's where they have the annual BMW rally during bike week. (All bikes are welcome) Tons of camping area and a 24 hour coffee tent. If you are going to motel, better make those $180+ a night reservations now. They jack them up 200-300% during bike week.

Remember, it's a good 7-8 hour ride from Daytona to Key West.

Like I said, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my numbers, we can talk.

Yea sure, I get 100 new friends a year. My driveway is about 500 yards from the New Smyrna Harley Store. I have more bikes in my yard than they do in the store.....

Being a creature of habit, my first lunch every Biketoberfest is a Cheeseburger from Pub 44. :D

If you've never been to Bikeweek you should try to visit the "Real" biker bars that still cater to some of the more colorful patrons. Pub 44, Boot Hill Saloon, The End of the World, Last Chance, Broken Spoke, and the Iron Horse. They are a hoot! People watching at its best! Then you must see the racetrack of course. Watching the vintage stuff on Monday and Tuesday are the best days. A stroll (more of a crawl, push, and shove) down Main Street.
Stay at a camp ground with nice, clean facilities like the Holiday Travel Park and enjoy some of the few cold nights we get in Florida. Bring raingear. It rains every stinkin' year!!
