Hi Everyone
Well we just couldn't stand not riding. We have had snow since Sunday evening and was waiting until the icy roads were all but gone. Had to check to see how our cold weather gear worked out in 25 degree temp....wind chill factor was somewhat colder:D We wore our Tourmaster Transition Jackets and Tourmaster Quest pants. Not too bad with the liners. Our fingertips and toes were a little cold. Our full face helmets along with our balaclavas did the trick. We now know where the improvements are needed.
A few pics.
Happy riding:)

Air deflecters work wonders on your hand grips. Something like these:

Thanks for the site, Guy. We were thinking about those when we saw ADVrider Mr. Cob's Gear Up with them.

Boy. That snow is beautiful. Glad it is at your house, not mine:)
I love the sticker "Honk if anything falls off!"
Thanks for the pics!

Looks like you all had a good time! I didn't have as much luck with my day in the snow, I almost buried the Wee in the yard! :o We had more sleet and freezing rain than snow and I was determined to get out and play on it. All went fairly well, did a few donuts and slid around a while, then I decided to take a short cut through the yard. I had forgotten that the ground under the snow and ice wasn't frozen. I thought I was going to make it fine until I had to turn quickly and go uphill. I thought one more powerslide and I will shoot this baby right up into the garage! Nope, the last powerslide spun through to the mud in the soft spot of my yard and I got to rock back and forth and paddle and cuss my way into the garage.
My first thought after getting it on the centerstand was, Black and Blue wouldn't have had this problem! :D

Just look at your ride as practice for your Alaska trip...there will be plenty of mud.
Yesterday the temperature in Tok was -24:eek:

On the st-owners board we have a photo tag game gooing and I ventured out to move the tag up a little in elevation. It was 61 when I left Ocean Beach and dropped to 34 up on Sunrise Highway. Elevation was above 4,000', so the temp dropped. There were quite a few folks playing in the snow and it was certainly a beautiful day.

Being a recent Florida transplant to the Northwest I never realized just how nice my heated grips are. We put some Aerostich ones ($27) on my brothers Ducati that would work great on the Urals. They look like a printed circuit board you put under your grips. Although I will offend some when I write this, they work better then my stock BMW ones.

We were just looking at Mr. Guys' suggestion and heated grips at a web site:) As far as BMW goes we can't say anything bad about any motorcycle;) We love them all, just can't afford all of them:D

Get the wind off the hands and it doesn't take much heat to keep the digits toasty.
Works for me anyway.

Great point. I have GS handguards on my R and love them. Universal fit ones for dirtbikes would work great on the Urals. I also use a heated vest from Aerostich. That is right up there with ABS when it comes to safety.

Thanks. We have swung over toward the guards instead of the heated grips.
Happy Riding:)
