Just got a Penny Stove from Bill Waite...this thing rocks!I am totally amazed how well it works...I used it tonite and boiled 2 cups of water for ramen soup n noodles in less than 5 mins!Whats more its cheaper to use than the gas stove in my kitchen! So thats what I'm doing:D This has to be one of the simplest and cheapest designs out there.OFC I bought mine but making one would even be cheaper.Whats more it packs up to such a small size and weighs next to nothing.Denatured alcohol can be stored in small plastic containers and wont eat away at it... :tent1: :tent6:

George had a couple of them in Kerrville over the weekend. The one he used for his cooking worked great.

Guy..Thanks for posting that...This is where I found Bill Waite's Penny stove.I dont think I could have made mine as well as this is made.Amazing from a beer can!The only thing that I'd complain about is knowing what an oz.of fuel is...You must use De-Natured Alcohol not Isopropyl alcohol which is 12% water.I am going to find some graduated plastic containers with a pour lip and also a small funnel to pour back unused fuel to the container. It amazes me to no end how well this works.:wow1:

I carry a quart in a graduated bottle. Usually just spill a bunch in the stove and light it, tho.

I made six of'em after receiving my first as a gift. I've got a couple left if anyone else wants one. Not as elegant as the one STBNE bought but same basis (I don't sand and polish mine.) Penny included.

Drop me a PM. I've got enuff raw material to knock out another 1/2 dozen. Stove, penny, stand, primitive wind screen. $3 via Pay Pal to cattmando@gmail.com ought'a easily cover postage, or wait 'til ya see me on the road for free.

I used to use a stainless shot glass I got at the Alamo to measure my alcohol. For the stove too. :D

The version I made is called the Supercat stove, which is the simplest stove of this kind that I found. I bring it as a backup to whatever my regular stove is, or if I want to get coffee going while my main stove is already in use.
