My buddies and I are back from our annual Big Bend National Park ride, and we had a great time.

Wednesday night we stayed at our usual stop, the Marathon Motel, in Marathon, Texas.
After a long day of riding it was great to get a drink in the White Buffalo bar and
eat dinner at the old Gage Hotel.

We went through the park Thursday morning and stopped at the Basin
to get souvenirs.

After that we rode to Terlingua. Once again, our good friend Roger
was very nice to let us camp on his land (the Rogerosa) near Terlingua.

Friday morning Roger led us on a ride up River Road (170) to Ruidosa, where
we got on Pinto Canyon road. This is a dirt, county road that goes through a
beautiful, isolated ranch.

Later that evening we headed to the Starlight Theatre in Terlingua for dinner and drinks, after
first stopping to see Terlingua's man-made active volcano. Here I am checking it out.

During the trip we saw pronghorn antelope, javalina, deer, quail, ravens, roadrunners, rabbits and even a fox. It was 85 degrees on Wednesday, but a cold front came in and it was 32 degrees on Saturday morning. On the way home we had to detour as far south as possible to avoid the ice in the San Antonio area, but we all made it home safely and had a fantastic trip.
