Hey all, I know this is mostly for overnight trips but I had to share this with you and recommend this little side trip for anyone coming to Colorado.
A friend called this afternoon and said he wanted to go for a ride. We decided we would ride Coal Creek Canyon, a very scenic route with lots of fun curves to straighten out. The weather was b-e-a-utiful. We decided to go to Gross Res. and chill for a bit before we came back down. Getting to the lake requires several miles of mild dirt road. Not difficult but lots of loose sand and rocks on the hairpins. (We were going way too fast but it was fun) This is a great little side trip if you find yourself in Colorado and have a few hours.
We stopped to loan a fellow cyclist some tools and had to fix a burned out taillight bulb on my DRZ and still made it to dinner in town by 7:30.
Enjoy the pics. Look me up if you come to Colorado, I would love to ride with some of you. I cant wait to give you some real trip reports soon, you know with some actual camping.
