That brought back some memories... I used to love to watch old westerns when I was a kid.

Check out the Lone Pine, California Film Festival. Takes place every October.
All the (living) actors show up. Those that have passed on to the big saloon in the sky usually have their offspring show up. They have a theater devoted to old westerns.
You can tour the Alabama Hills where the films were made. Quite a big deal here in Inyo County.
The whole town goes nuts with the old Hollywood western memorbilia thing.
Heck, the town looks like an old western town most of the year anyway.

Good riding area even in October with campgrounds galore up and down the valley as well as motels and eatin' spots.

Wish I could go, but for those who might, I highly recommend the Boulder Creek Campground there in Lone Pine. Pics of our stay there can be seen on pages 6-7 pics 231-251…at this link…

I like my XM radio as they have some of the old wester series shows on but it take some getting used to William Conrad playing James Arnes (Marshal Dillon), and different folks insead of Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheals but the message is always the same, The good guys always win "S"
Happy Trails to you, until we meet again :)

Great stuff, STeve. Thanks.
I remember going to the _morning_ movies at the Pantheon in Vincennes, IN back in the early 50s. Hoppy was one of the serials, had to go like 8 weeks in a row to catch the whole thing.

Old westerns were written when people who remembered the old west were still alive! Most of them are gone now. ;)
