Hi All,

Well today I took off work because Jetfixer was in town for work and he suggested we go see if we could get lost out in the sticks somewhere. It almost worked, but not quite. We met up at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. They have a nice aircraft display on the north side of the base and if you ever drive though town on I-40 you can't miss it.

From there we had lunch at Old Chicago pizza.

Then just picked a road and headed north I explained to Jetfixer that we'd have to go about 20 miles to get out of Ok. county before we would see any dirt roads. Along the way, we stopped at the Round Barn in Arcadia, Ok a popular tourist stop along Old Route 66. While there a couple from Australia stopped, They had started their drive in Chicago and were driving 66 to LA.

After the barn, we headed north on county roads again and finally found some dirt. Luckily there was a light rain this morning so there was little dust and a little mud, but after a few miles we came to a road closed sign. It was decided to go find out why it was closed and we came to some men repairing a washed out section of road, they were nice enough to let us pass.

We continued north till we came to a monument that marks the NE corner of the 1889 land run in Oklahoma.

From here we road to Guthrie and back south to Tinker, the Long Way Down , so to speak.

I want to take time to thank Jetfixer for asking me to ride with him today. It's always nice to meet new people who enjoy the same things in life that you do. And with any luck I'll be meeting more of you in Sept. and Oct.

Thanks, Guy

P.P.S. I got my butt chewed out by the Mrs. when I got home because Jetfixer wasn't there to have dinner with us, so next time you have to come out to eat. Sorry.

Nice pics Guy! It was a blast meeting you and riding today. That barn was incredible, I've never seen anything like it. After all the meetings this week at Tinker, this was the best stress relief possible! Thanks for taking the time out and showing me around. I'm back to Abilene tomorrow. Dang! I hate missing that dinner too! I came back and ate some old dry over cooked popeye's chicken! Hope to make it up there again in Nov!

Yup! Been working those things for 17 years. I see you're an AF Vet too. I'm guessing an offensive or defensive avionics guy judging by the tag line! :D Thanks for serving! Hey I'm not too far from you. We have a few guys meeting at the Koffee Kup in Hico around noon Sat (16th)you should come.

Fredric beat me to it! But I just saw this post, haven't been here for a while. B1 was my first guess, just from the "swing wing" design, and the squared off air inlets, So I looked itn up on Wiki and there it was! Then I came back and read the next post and saw that I had already lost.....oh, well!
