I'm not sure where to ask this....does anyone use tree hammocks anymore?

I was introduced to jungle hammocks long long ago in a land far far away and while they were not as nice as a cot in a hard back squad tent with an air conditioner, they did do the job, kept you dry and you didn't need to worry about the leechs. bugs or snakes for the most part.

I was thinking and it hurt...hammocks would be great to use on a bike trip as long as you can tie them in a tree at a camp ground. Anyone?;)

Not as many trees out west or never seem to be in the right spot

A lot of backpackers use them, but then they are normally in the woods where trees are plentiful. I would be concerned about camping in one as a lot of people think that hammocks can damage the trees. Plus, not all campsites will have 2 properly spaced trees for you to hang from. I remember when I used one while backpacking and having to wander around in the woods looking for 2 trees just right.
