Hi, I am new to the site and would appreciate any feedback on the following question. At what age should you start worrying about the tent canvas when buying a used tent trailer? I am very inteested in Aspen trailers, but have to look at older ones to get into a price range I am confortable with, yet don't want to have to worry about replacing the canvas anytime soon.

Thoughts, comments????

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Thanks, Steve. Haven't had much response to the questions I posted, but enjoy reading all the threads.

I don't think Aspen uses canvas, at least they don't now. Most of the tent campers have a naugahyde top with nylon sides. The nylon doesn't get rotten like the canvas did.

From what Ive heard from other Bunkhouse/Aspen vets... you need to worry more about the tent material getting torn on the frames when packing it. Same material as many tents- they last a good L O N G time if taken care of

I've got a few tiny wear holes (from rubbing), but they are not a problem. I used GE Silicon II clear to cover over the holes. They may also have been caused by flying embers. The tents on the Bunkhouse and Aspen are very high quality.
