For a while now, I've been looking for a duffel to replace the one I've been using for years as it was starting to fall apart.

I've had a hard time finding one that is just the right dimensions,
most of them are way long at 28-42 inches or way short at 10-18 inches,
not much in between.

Well, I saw this one on the cabelas site and decided to order it. It was only $49.99 and is a roll-top waterproof duffel.

I got it last week and the dimensions are perfect. It is just long enough to hang over the passenger grab rails of the Wing which provide an excellent location to strap it down. It will hold a regular size thermarest or air mattress, Sleeping Bag, camp pillow and room for a tent. I opted to get an additional bag () for the tent to keep it separate from the stuff that needs to stay dry just in case it rains.

This thing is built very tough and if you don't have a backrest on your wing, this is just the right width to provide some extra support. I've noticed I don't use my backrest much except for highway riding so I may take it off and just use this packed bag.

For those that don't know what a roll-top is, it's got one opening at the top and you roll it down and squeeze the air out of it to seal it and make a waterproof seal. There are no zippers. The ends of the roll top snap to the sides of the bag and there are two additional snaps to go across the bag to secure it even more. It also have built in carrying straps like most duffels and it also has an optional shoulder strap if you want to use it.

I've researched many truly waterproof bags and the cheapest I had found were in the $60 range and smaller than this one. The bag this one is replacing is just one I found at Target years ago for $20 and is coated on the inside with some plastic or urethane, maybe. It has done OK in the rain but the zipper is definitely not waterproof. The outside is starting to come apart. I have a hellen two wheels duffel however, the size isn't right and the one bag that she has which is similar to the cabela bag in size is $95.

Only time will tell if this will hold up to many camping trips but based on the quality of what I see and comparing it to the Sea Line bag that Blink has used for years, I'm thinking it's a winner. And, the price is the best part.

Click the pic below to go to the cabela site and see more details, I got the Regular size ((24"L x 12"W x 12"H) 3,456 cu. in.)

Actually, since I ended up getting the back pack one as it works better for me. I'll sell you mine... Let me know and I'll bring it with me to Fort Davis.

There's also supposed to be a more heavy duty HD4 (?) version for a few bucks more. The normal one seems thick enough to me.

Actually, I'm not sure if the HD4 option is thicker or if you are just paying extra to have it in camo colors.

Camo colors are good. They can't steal it if they can't see it!:D

This is the one I bought for my trek accross the contient only the next size up. I've used it for 57 days, every day now and it is great. Been in heavy rain and snow. Not a drop in it. It is built well and less expensive by a good deal than any other bag of this quality. I use a 4 point connection system to my backrest and handles which is simple yet effective.

I have one of these bag and it works great. It's easy to load and has never leaked in the two years I have used it. :D It's half the price of other waterproof bags$$$$$

Sorry I did not get back sooner. It's hard sometimes to get to a computer while I amm traveling. I will take some pictures of how I have it attached and post them soon and hopefully it will be helpful.:tent4:

I used the same Cabela's duffel bag on my 18 day June trip. I rode through one extremely heavy rain storm in eastern New Mexico and into Texas and the bag worked great, no leakage at all. I recommend the bag.

Mellow, I realize your review was a while ago but I'm going to spring for a new bag. Would the Cabela's bag fit in the Wings saddlebag?

Do you mean empty or full? Empty and rolled up it should.. But, the size of the one here would cover the entire rear seat crossways and probably just past the passenger grab rails.

I'm not sure about the smaller sizes but the one I reviewed here is mainly for the back seat and for a wing I would suggest the backpack version, that's what I use now as it sits more upright and fits the contours of the rear seat better.

I got 3 out of those bins but had a heck of time finding what I wanted, then one was the one that you load from the side but it took almost 30 minutes to figure out how much it cost
