Tn Trip May 08

I left friday May 23rd and got back sunday june 1st. I left Abilene at 6am, and got on the Natchez Trace just south of Vicksburg Ms. Spent the first night on the trace at Jeff Busby Park. Saturday morning I loaded up and headed north and got off the trace on hwy 64 and went east to Lynchburg. After touring the town and the distillery, I continued east on 64 to Ocoee and then headed north until I landed at the Cherohala Motorcycle Resort. It was about 9pm the office and restaurant was closed and the owner came out and flagged me down as I was wandering sort of aimlessly. They were so nice, they even opened up the restaurant and fed me so I wouldn't have to go into town to eat. It was a great night there.

Sunday morning I got up headed across the cherohala skyway to the dragon and rode it on into Knoxville and spent the next two nights with the in-laws. Then I headed to Charlotte and stayed a couple nights with the parents. I left Charlotte Thursday morning and went to Blowing Rock NC and got on the blue ridge parkway. I got off the parkway near Maggie Valley and headed back towards the dragon (wanted to do that one again). It was getting late when I happened across the Kick Stand Lodge. Yet another wonderful motor camping resort. I had a wonderful stay there. I sat and drank a few beers with other campers and had a really good stay.

Friday morning it's off to the dragon for one more ride, and low and behold I had to stop and play rescue worker. I was one of the first ones on the scene of a motorcycle wreck. This poor guy just bought a new ultra glide and crashed it. He was very inexperienced and probably shouldn't have tried the dragon yet. We had to pick the motorcycle up off this guy who ran it into the side of the mountain. Fortunately the only injury he had was a cut on his ear. I left when the hiway patrol came, figured he was in good hands.

I spent Saturday night in hot springs ark at the Quachita river state park. The lake was really nice and the water is so clear you can see to the bottom. I had a great swim Saturday night and Sunday morning. Sure hated to come back home and fac reality.

Great Ride Report Jetfixer! I was down there a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately all we had time to do was ride down, ride the Dragon, grab a motel, and ride back. I would love to go down when I had at least a week.
