I would like to do the 4 State Corner Tour (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah) this summer with my son. My son lives in Vegas so we will be leaving from there. I would like advice from anyone that has done this. I have never been in that area so I need help picking the roads and stopping at any good sites. We will be camping along the way. Thanks, Ray in Indiana
This is all from memory so bear with me. In New Mexico you have the Aztec ruins. In Colo. Durango is a nice little town and has the Drango/Silverton express old train to ride and lots of shops and stuff. From Vegas you should be able to hit (if you wanted to) the Grand Canyon, Zions nat. park, Lake Powell, Grand Staircase, Mesa Verde. The possibilties are endless. You could also stop by and see the polygamists in Colorado City/Hillsdale. Where all the houses look like motels. I'm thinking of doing Grand Jct. Co, Ouray, Durango, Farmington N. Mex, Bluff, Moab Ut. and then back into Vernal Ut. I can visit a lot of old friends along the way. It will be a good way to spend days off. Have a safe one Mike

I can't help with camping suggestions since I motel'ed it when I went through, but I can definitely recommend the Main Street Brewery in Cortez, CO right near the four corners monument itself. :couch1:
As far as roads in those four states....oh man. You can't go wrong.
Near Vegas is the Valley of Fire state park. It's an awesome ride. Here's my ride report from the last time I did this area (http://bluepoof.com/motorcycles/trips/desert_tour_2006/dt06_6.html).
It's an easy ride from Vegas to the Grand Canyon. If you don't have enough time to really ride along the whole south rim, I REALLY recommend splurging on a helicopter ride. My husband and I did this and it was truly memorable and you see SO much.
If you have a chance to see Zion National Park, that's another love of mine. Horseback riding through the canyon is really fun.
New Mexico is probably my second favorite state (after my current-home state of California). Are you sticking to the north?
I don't have much experience in Colorado, so I'll let others help you out there. :D
If you head back home on I-40, take a detour south of Flagstaff on US-89A through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona, AZ. A wonderful ride from the pine forests of Flagstaff to the red rock country of Sedona. Just west of Sedona is the old mining town of Jerome stuck on the side of a mountain! Passing beyond Jerome takes you through the Mingus Mountain Pass, a great twisty road.
Where ever you do end up, enjoy your trip, almost any road in that area is a worth while ride.
