Hi All,

Just wanted to tell you about a quick day trip I took with my friend Jake (GSX1000R). I road up to Old 66 and headed west to Edmond Ok. and then north to Jake's house. After a short visit, we headed north to Guthrie and then west on SH33 to Kingfisher Ok. At the intersection of SH33 and US81 they are erecting a statue of Jesse Chisholm, although never a cattle man himself, he opened several trading post along the cattle trail that is named after him.

For more info.

Leaving Kingfisher we headed west on SH33 to Watonga, then north on SH8 to Roman Nose State Park.

I haven't stayed here in a long time, but they have many improvements since my last visit. We followed the same route back, and on my way back home I stopped and took pictures at an old and new spot on Old 66. The old one being an old gas station built around 1916

and the new one being a new tourist hot spot in the town of Arcadia. A gas stop called "POPS", a restaurant and store with 500 different kinds of soda pop.

From there I headed home.

Thanks, Guy

Looks like you had a pretty nice ride. I like the park. Is it on the river?

Hi Jetfixer,

No the park has 2 small lakes on Bitter Creek. But just a little ways NW is Canton Lake which is on the North Canadian River. There are some Corps of Engineer campgrounds there.

Mr. Guy,

Your making me miss Oklahoma.. I stopped at the oldest gas station a few years ago on my Shadow. Found out later, My folks in Midwest City know the people who own the place very well. I'll have to seek out the Soda Pop place next spring when I'm out there again. I love the old route 66. -Paul

Mr. Guy, I am new to this site, found out about it from trailace in the TWT forum. I am not sure where Meeker OK. is. I will look at the map tomorrow. I live in a spec in the road called Telephone Tx. It is west of Paris. Maybe we could get together and ride some time. I own a CRF 230L wich is good for about 50 hiway miles at a time. but I could ride dirt all day. I also own a shadow 600. I am currently planning on going to the hillbilly roundup in Ark. in march. I would really like to see more of Oklahoma. I love the idea of riding and camping:tent1:P^

Hi SDD74,

My son, Jeffrey, has a Yamaha XT250 so I know that CRF230L will do more than you probably think it will. I can't make the Hillbilly Roundup, to much family stuff in April. But I'm bettin something will happen in TX this summer I'll try to get to. I don't know if you've seen this, but it's full of info you might find helpfull:

Have fun on that bike and I'll see you down the road somewhere.

Guy

P.S. If your ever up this way, let me know and we'll hit some dirt roads. I've got a great big pasture free for camping too.

Meeker is about 30 miles east of OKC. I live about half way between Meeker and Prague to the East. Out in the sticks. WAY out. Great place to own a Dual-Sport. :D

Your welcome Tom.
