The Oxford Ranch Campground is on Hwy 16 about 9 miles south of Llano. From Llano, take 16 south towards Fredericksburg, but don't go too fast or you'll miss it. I spent the weekend there to look the place over before the Hawgs-N-Hills rally in May. http://www.hawgsnhills.com. This is a very unique park with over 160 acres of camping. The main area near the entrance has full hookups but the majority of the park is available for primitive camping and there are no designated sites. Just pay and go find a spot, and there are endless places to camp. I chose a nice quiet spot in the trees near on of the ponds. Cost for tent campingis $12/night. The park has all the ammenities of a state park without all the rules and regulations. The roads in the park are dirt but well maintained, I didn't have any trouble getting around with a heavy cruiser. They don't mind if you drive on the grass to get to that far off the beaten path spot you want either. If you want a nice quiet, relaxing place in the hill country with plenty of shade and nobody bothering you, this is the place.
Also, if you want to enjoy some good music, fun, and ride the hill country, go to the Hawgs-N-Hills rally May 2-4. The park restaurant is serving up breakfast for all campers during the rally.
