I decided to upgrade my down 45 degree bag since I've been getting a bit
chilly during our cold weather camping expeditions..

I found a 0 degree bag at REI for $99. Just got it today and it's
definitely going to keep me warm. It also isn't going to pack as
nicely as my down bag did but I don't mind sacrificing some packing
space for nice warm nights.

No longer available. As of 3/15/07, the closest priced 0 degree bag sold under the REI brand name is the Zenith 0 Sleeping Bag and it's $169. I wonder what it compresses to because the stuff bag size, 9 x 20, isn't very impressive for motorcycle campers.

A few years ago I bought a Polar Pod 20 degree and have been happy with it. I figure it's good, for me anyway, down to maybe ambient 30 degrees F, and anything much below that I'm headed for the motel.

I add 10 to 20 degrees to a bag's rating, depending on type, to determine my personal comfort level.
