TX BBQ - 4/5/2008

A good friend of mine throws a BBQ every year on or around the first weekend of April - 4/5 this year in Friendswood, TX - just southeast of Houston.

Some of you might know him as Hotglue and he and his wife put on great food/get together .

The BBQ is usually ready by 1pm.

If you are interested in some of the best BBQ vs. anything you've ever thought was good at some BBQ joint, email me and let me know you plan on going and I'll provide some directions. He doesn't like the idea of a map of his place floating around the internet so be sure to email me.

Some of you made it last year and weathered a pie run from the TWT site as well as some toad strangling rains. Hopefully, the weather this year will be much better.

I don't know yet if I'll make this one. I've been helping my mom out a lot lately and might need to take that time to head up to OK. But, I'm sure there will still be others there and it's a very friendly gathering so even if you knew absolutely no one, Mark (Hotglue) will make you feel welcome.

I can tell you this is some gooooooodddd BBQ. I weathered the toad strangler last year and had a great time. Joe and Rick spent the night in their tents at Hotglue's place and darn near floated away. We had to pull Joe's Wing out of the mud with a Mule.(Kawasaki) I holed up in a motel because I did the 1500 mile trip non-stop for my Bun Burner Gold this trip and just wasn't up to settin' my tent up that evening. I did camp the next night and broke camp in the rain the next morning before anyone else got up and got an early start back to Ohio. I am going to try to get there this year, but I have a lot on my plate the next week, so I'm not sure I'll be there.
