Suggested road rides

Ride #1 Saturday to the Keweenaw Peninsula up to Copper Harbor a 350 mile round trip.

Ride #2 Saturday to the harbor in Marquette and to Miners Castle east of Munising then down M94 to the Buckhorn road and return, Lunch at the Beartrap where fresh pasties will be served. Leave at 10 a.m. a 200 mile round trip. I need to know how many will make this ride as the pasty?s are made fresh everyday so they would like a head count.

Ride #3 The iron mining museums, one in Ishpeming, and one just outside of Negaunee.
Dual sport rides are also very nice in the area

I'm new to this forum. It seems to be an excellant site. I saw a flyer about yooperstoc just the other day on another forum. Looks very interesting. I have another ride set up for that weekend with the Mi. PGR. called ride around the mitt. It's not set in stone yet. Maybe I'll make it.

Sounds like a good time. I went to the Marquette blues festival last year for the 2nd time and the North Lodge sold ribs there. The ribs were the tastiest I ever had and they almost melted in your mouth. They were that great. A big plate of ribs, cole slaw, a corn on the cob, and a dinner roll for about $8. Best $8 I ever spent. I hesitate to volunteer my brother, but he has a pop up camper 1 mile south of M-28 ( a block west from 41 where a few of us could crash.

Ride Suggestion. 41 going to Keweenaw Peninsula looks on the map to be a straight road. It's not. It's winding twisting roads through the mountains through a tunnel of trees. Not a ride to forgo. A beautiful ride that you will never forget. On the way back from Copper Harbor, take the state road (29?) going south along the lake until it meets 41 again. Those who just look at a map may intially see 41 as a boring straight ride to Copper Harbor. It's a great ride.

M-94 (from 41 to 28) was repaved the entire way last summer. If I remember correctly, it only went through one town large enough to have a restaurant I don't remember about gas stations as I filled up in Marquette.

M28 from Munising to Marquette is boring (despite riding sometimes along lake Superior). You are stuck behind slow SUVs and RVs the entire time. Take 94 west from Munising to 41. Then go north on 41 to Marquette (28) about 17 miles. You will turn right (north) from 94 onto 41 shortly after passing a Park and Ride lot. Last summer, across from the Park and Ride, there was a garage with an RV with a for sale sign. For those in search of a cheap northern getaway (if it's still for sale) that may be a cheap option for you. There was electricity to the garage.

Danny, I've always wanted to tour the UP. I'm retired AF and spent some time at Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda back in the 80s. I never made it to the UP because we were working too many hours. I may be knocking on your door come July. I'll be roughing it on a dual sport.

Lots of retired AF personnel here with KI Sawyer being a sac base, now of course closed with the down sizing. Several dual sport rides here also.
