Now that 2005 is history, how many miles did you put in?

I only did just over 18k myself but I did have some great rides...
The biggest year I've had in the past has been just under 30k and I've never hit that mark, I'm gonna try for it this year but it's gonna take some planning.
I don't typically ride to work because of customer meetings I have to go to where I can't wear jeans but we are having more and more casual days so maybe that will help.
So... loose 10 lbs and ride 30k miles this year.... those are my only two goals.

I don't think I will make 30,000 this year or 28,000 like I did the last two years.
Money is tighter this year with three teenagers driving the insurance is kicking me.
So I will shoot for 15,000.

My excuse is that I only had the bike for 6 months. Otherwise I would have put about 16,000 miles on it...and more if I can do some serious travelling!

12,800 on the '05 from the end of July on and over 8,000 on the '03 before that. Looking for more than that this year with WeSTOC, CampSTOC, NaSTOC, and TexSTOC in the works.

I know man if I had the money, 100,000 miles a year would be a slow year.:)

I am new to this board, retired and put in a little over 40,000 miles on an '01 GL 1800. My biggest trip was to AK in July. I pulled a Bunkhouse and my SO and I used it 19 out of 21 days. I traded the '01 in on an '06 in October and have 8500 miles on it now. The weather in NE OH has not been condusive to a lot of riding since mid November.

Joe, My '99 trip was on a '98 Wing and all my pictures were 35mm. The '05 trip was on an '01 Wing and I did take a few digital pictures. But I'm not computer literate enough to insert them.

As long as they meet the size requirement... You can attache them to a post using the "Manage Attachements" button in the Additional Options section of a post.
We have a Trip Reports area where you could post a report summarizing your trip and attach the pics there.
If you have problems, just email them to me and I'll get them inserted one way or another.

I did not even get a scratch (thanks to riding gear!). Although the gear did not help old bones from being sore from the sudden striking the pavement, roling then sliding!

That's good to know, glad to hear it.
It surely could have been worse.

I got in about 27,000 miles between New Years day and Christmas, but it was spread out over 4 bikes. About 2 thousand on a Calvacade that came in May and left in June, about 4 thousand on a Vulcan 88 that left in March, another 4 thousand on a Pacific Coast that arrrived in June, and about 17 thousand on the 1800 Wing. And about 8000 of those miles were dragging a Bunkhouse around. And that Bunkhouse departed in the early winter, to be replaced by a KwikKamp.
Had some great trips - started the year right by going down the Pacific Coast in Feb until we were turned around below Point Sur because CA gave the road to the Pacific Ocean. So it became down the Carmel Valley and over the hill to admire Death Valley in full bloom. And the winter was so great we came back up US395 in light shirts. Couple of months later was a trip thru the Trinity Alps, CA 1, over to Oroville and up the Feather River, thru Lassen, into Medicine Lake and back to the ranch. Another trip in July was local - Oregons Blue Mountains, High Cascade Lakes, Newberry Crater, Crater Lake, Anthony Lakes, and thru the Willowa mountains. Finished the summer with a fall trip of a couple of weeks going on Idahos Salmon River, Lolo Pass, Yellowstone, Grand Teatons, a lot of Colorado scenery, more Utah scenery before heading home. Finished the year with the Washington Cascades and Olympic National Park and Washington Coast before the winter monsoons kicked in full bore.
Al in all, wonderful 27000 mile year of two wheeling fun. And getting set to do it again.
Remember, To appreciate the day, you must enjoy the sunset.
