Hi All,
I've already taken of the thursday and friday before Labor Day and am not sure where I want to go. I'm thinking Colorado again, but maybe New Mexico or Arizona. Any ideas out there, or does anyone know of a ride going on that weekend, or does anyone want to put one together. I'm not very organized and I've never put one together before, so I'm not sure where to start at that.

I always plan two trips... one east and one west.. One of the trips is the ONE I want to go on but the other trip is just in case weather, time, etc type issues happen and I need to adjust my plans.

I may go to colorado but I'll have a backup plan of going to the smokies, just in case.

I've always targeted national parks, they are the most scenic. So, starting point is home, ending point is that nat'l park. I look at the map and figure out how many days and miles I need to get there, ride around, and get back home.

I also try to note other state/nat'l parks nearby just in case I can't get a campground where I want. Since you'll be doing this on a holiday weekend, it's possible you may have a hard time getting a campsite. I've only come close once on a Memorial Day weekend in Glacier Nat'l park.. but still ended up getting a spot.

Hope that helps some.

Good afternoon to everyone, I am new here but have been riding for over 40 years. I currently ride the Yamaha Star Venture (2005) and have put over 30K on it. My better half rides an 05 Roadstar. I have one trip every year that I do with my buddies and that is the Run For the Wall in Washington, DC, over Memorial weekend. Leave Iowa on Thursday morning, with the first stop in either Wheeling WV, or Washington Pa. The other trip is my better half's choosing and it looks like this year we will be heading down to the Carolina's and Va. via two lane roads all way. You might want to thing about the run for the Wall trip. If you have never been there it is truely inspiring, 500K to 750K bike of all kinds in the Pentagon parking lot and the the ride to the wall. Thanks for allowing me to join this site and post, I will try to keep up as best I can.

Ok, I've finally got an idea. I think I'll ride the perimeter around Ok. Visit all the state corner monuments, there's supposed to be a nice big one at the corner with Ok, Co, and Nm. Has anyone done something like this before. Of course, it would take longer with Tx.

Thanks, Guy

Hi Intruder,

That sounds like an interesting trip, but man that's a long haul from central Oklahoma. Besides I'm not much of a crowd guy to begin with, but I do agree, not enough respect can ever be payed to the men and women on that wall. The country owes a big debt to all service personal, both military as well as police, fire, and others that serve their follow man. I don't think this debt can ever be payed in full, so the best we can do is never forget.

Thanks, Guy
