Well today I thought I should try my stove and cookware out in the back yard, glad I did it here first.

Off to a good start, bacon aroma in the neighborhood.

Then it happened, the stove quit, I tried for about 30 minutes to get it going but was getting to hurngy so like if I was on the road I imporvised :)

Moved into the house but still using my cookware.

I ended up taking my stove apart and I think it was a bunch of crud on the fuel filter in that fitting that slides into the fuel bottel, but it is going now but I have learned that I should probably get the maintaince kit so I will have the right stuff to take it apart.

Next time I will know what to do and it should only take a couple of minutes to take care of.

I got one of the kits (the expedition), it contains a full set of o-rings but also parts that I don't need as there are 2 different pump types. Might be worth the money to have on hand, but all ya need is the funky tool to tear it down to nothing.

The kit I got included 2 fuel pickup tubes.. it seems that later on they replaced the bronze/brass bead filter (you know them funky fused together metal bead things) with a plastic item that seems like it would be much more prone to clog. Mine has been fine.

The only thing that came with my pump was a tube of lube, it was seperate from the stove.

I think this is the filter that was causing the problem. This Dragonfly used a different pump that the others

Ah, not the pump at all, that's the fuel tube (I think they call it that).... The pump does look like the newer style for the whisperlite, I wonder if the tool is the same? I've got an extra

I may have to go to Cabelas or REI tomorrow and see if they have one for it. Dang all the luck of HAVING to go to these places, someone may have to twist my arm :D

I think if I have there little maintaince kit almost anything can be fixed in a couple of minutes

Steve, my comment had nothing to do with the contents of your breakfast. A couple of weeks ago my power went out and I got the camp stove out and cooked my breakfast on it. You just did the opposite as I did. Your campstove quit and you used the electric stove to finish breakfast!!!

Oh ok "LOL" if I had been out somplace I would have gone to a resturant :D

I thought I had read everything closley but I guess not, but I think I know what I need to do if it wont stay lit again "S" I would rather learn this at home instead of out someplace.

I also tried my 10 liter MSR bag as a water supply and it worked good, and doing my clean up using the fry pan for a sink and washing all the smaller stuff first did well too.

One thing I had not counted on is excess grease from the bacon. Does anyone carry a can to put it in? If you keep a small clean can you can pour off your grease and if you need a bit more you have some good tasting bacon grease. After my bacon I poured off some and did my hash browns but when I got ready to do the eggs I needed some more. when done with breakfast you just dump the can and wash it like the pan :D

Grease burns in the campfire nicely, I don't think there is any reason not to do it.. although I could be wrong.

I agree after the meal is done but if cooking more that one item and may need some more to cook the next thing a small clean can comes in handy. :)

:tent6:I believe the trick is to put some salt in a dry skillet and toss on the bread.. if I remember correctly.. I know there's a trick to it.

I fry bread in the bacon grease before frying the eggs. The bread soaks up some of the grease so the eggs are boiling in it.

Sorry about the hijack Steve, but do your meds make your muscles ache? I'm on Vytorin and sometimes I get cramps in my calves that feel like they are going to pull my foot off. I don't remember these problems on Lipitor. Could be the low carb diet I'm also, hell I don't know.

I may get a cramp in my foot or calf about ever 2 - 3 months.

I was on Mevicor for about 6 or 7 years and then I have been on Pravachol (Pravastatin) for about 7 years now along with 1500 mg of niaspan. I do get hot flashes about twice a month from the niaspan :(

I have not been very good about staying on the low carb diet, no taters or bread

Since I quit smoking last June I have put on about 30 lbs but my cholesterol has not spiked. I used Chantex to quit smoking and I did not have a lot of side effects from it either.

Glad to hear you quit smoking. Hopefully you can quit all the meds too. :D

Very smart idea to try out you gear at home first. It's not fun discovering some weird quirk while out "in the field" when you really need it work.

I gained so much weight I needed the Boss Hoss bike with the 502 Chevy! I had blown up to 325 but I'm down to about 285 and still working on it. I quit smoking in 2000 but went to dipping Skoal. I gave that up about two years ago, but I miss it more than smoking. I still find myself checking my pocket for the can after lunch.:(
